The main intent of this paper is to share a unique advisory tool that would help in obtaining an optimum DGA rich mole loading value at amine sweetening unit. The advisory tool was developed after experiencing high DGA mole loading at the unit for elongated period of time. This phenomenon was not observed earlier due to inaccurate readings of the acid gas content analyzers. Following the calibration of the analyzers, the CO2 content was raised significantly (from 6 to 10 mol%), which represented the actual readings in comparison with lab sample results. To address similar challenges, a smart DGA mole loading advisory tool was developed as guidance toward the optimum DGA strength and circulation rate based on the acidity of the sour gas. The application of this tool helped plant operations to continuously maintain DGA loading within targets (0.35-0.4). This paper discusses in detail the calculations, findings, and recommendations to enable achieving the optimum target of DGA mole loading.
