To align with the new Qatar environmental regulation Oil & Gas companies started several projects in past years to prevent rejection of treated industrial effluents into the sea to reach Zero Liquid Discharge. Technip assisted of water treatment specialists of EGIS Eau has conducted several studies to find out viable technical and economical solutions. These studies have highlighted that adequate effluents segregation according to their characteristics is critical to optimize the treatment schemes and select destination of treated water and residues. Treated water is recycled within the plant to reduce water consumption. Final residues may be reused in irrigation systems injected in wells or sent to final waste disposal.
