Choosing 3A or 4A Molecular Sieve for Natural Gas Dehydration

Presented at GPA Europe Ltd AGM & Technical Meeting, London, 24 November, 2016 by
H. Secker and V. Zafirakis, Grace GmbH & Co. KG
Both 3A and 4A molecular sieves are often used for the dehydration of natural gas and NGL. By considering several key process parameters there will be a clear preference for using either a 3A or a 4A molecular sieve for design of dehydration units. These parameters include the feed composition and presence of certain contaminants the operating conditions of the process the regeneration conditions and limitations and the product specification. This paper will take an in-depth look at these parameters in order to help Engineering Companies and End-Users select the most appropriate product for their specific plant design or operation.
