During the last 25 years our industry has moved progressively from land and relatively shallow offshore resources to deeper water, more remote locations. As the need to produce gas and oil from reservoirs extends to deeper waters and longer tiebacks, subsea processing technologies have been developed to achieve maximum hydrocarbon recovery from the resource. Subsea processing systems, the status of commercialization and deployment and enabling technologies such as HIPPS systems and all-electric subsea controls will be reviewed.
