This talk follows on from David’s recent series of articles published in The Chemical Engineer calling for a credible hybrid plan for net zero energy. Doing nothing appeals to many, while policymakers are attracted by the “silver bullet” of a fully electrified energy system. In David’s view, neither is viable, and he will share a multi-vector solution, using hybrid technologies to secure wider consumer appeal, and will summarise how these can satisfy the “quadlemma” – decarbonisation, while minimising cost, ensuring security of supply, and retaining international competitiveness. He will address our energy system from supply to market.
