There are various processes available on the market for natural gas conditioning. Besides technical considerations like operational cost, process robustness and i.e. startup time, it is obvious that capital investment cost is an important factor in determining the suitability of a conditioning process.
In this paper -an evaluation has been made so as to come to an economic comparison between Low Temperature Separation (LTS) using the Joule Thomson effect and the SORDECO Process that applies a solid adsorbent. In particular at low feedgas pressure and for strict dewpoint specifications, the economical analysis favours the SORDECO process over the LTS process for hydrocarbon dewpointing.
