Changing Times: We are all in this together

It has almost become a cliché to say that we are in unprecedented times. However, with recent announcements from Governments throughout Europe, and with an effective state of lockdown for many, life really has changed beyond anything we have ever known.

There is an immense amount of community spirit and support in evidence across the industry and it is that which we hope will see us through the coming weeks and months.

Through a variety of technologies, we are all finding ways to continue working. We are slowly beginning to understand the new normal.

It is too early to think of lessons learnt from this crisis, but it is certainly teaching new ways to communicate and work together for the benefit of all.

Keep safe.

GPA Europe Spring Conference 2020
2 - 4 June 2020
POSTPONED

After consultation with the Officers of GPA Europe, we have taken the decision to postpone the GPA Europe Spring Conference (due to take place 2 – 4 June 2020), due to the situation surrounding COVID-19.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly and there are two overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision at this time.

First, our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our delegates, exhibitors and partners, without whom we could not stage our event.

Second is the uncertainty caused by the fact that throughout mainland Europe but in particular France, countrywide restrictions have been implemented. These announcements make the probability of factors outside our control which might otherwise force us to cancel the event at the last minute much higher. Feedback from member companies has also been that cancellation of all but essential travel will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

Both of these factors – uncertainty around whether our Spring Conference will be allowed to proceed in June, as well as doubts as to the number of delegates who will be able to attend – have led us to the conclusion that we now have no option but to postpone the GPA Europe Spring Conference 2020.

We’re already working hard in the background to reschedule our Spring Conference and will announce these plans once the situation has stabilised and circumstances are clearer.

Once again, we thank the industry for the support that has been shown to us and we are here to support others in the industry as we all work through these difficult times.

GPA Midstream Convention, New Orleans
18 - 22 April 2020
CANCELLED

A message update from GPA Midstream Association:

GPA Midstream Association announces cancellation of the 2020 GPA Midstream Convention scheduled for New Orleans, April 19-22, in response to the ongoing impacts of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including on the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana, shelter-in-place orders across the country, and domestic and international travel restrictions. The unknown duration of the coronavirus impact makes rescheduling our event during 2020 impractical.

GPA Midstream leadership encourages convention registrants to adjust prearranged travel plans accordingly.

Cancelling such an important annual event for our industry was a difficult decision, but please know that we look forward to holding our 2021 convention, scheduled for April 11 - 14 in San Antonio, anticipating robust attendance from our industry, ready to celebrate the association’s 100th anniversary.

The return to normal will take time, but as GPA Midstream President and CEO Joel Moxley said in a recent interview with LP Gas Magazine, well before the events transpiring today:

“Midstream will be a tough place to play for the next few years, but it always has been, and we always survive. We’re a tough bunch.”

GPSA Engineering Databooks - 14th Edition

The 14th edition of the GPSA Engineering Databook is now available with up to the minute improvements and the latest data.

The GPSA Engineering Databook is almost 1,000 pages of technical information and is the worldwide authoritative resource for technical and design information. It compiles basic design information together with data and procedures that can used by field and plant engineers to determine operating and design parameters.

It is also intended as an aid to design engineers who, in spite of increasing availability of computer routines and other sophisticated design methods, require a general reference work as a guide to accepted engineering practice for estimating, feasibility studies, preliminary design and for making on-site operating decisions.

Every process engineer should have one!
