The Hot-Seat

A message from our Chairperson, Gary Bowerbank.

"I hope you are all keeping safe and well; and that you are managing to find the right work/life balance. As we come out of the current situation it is key for those of us in the Gas Processing Industry to not just slip into our old ways. Which means that we have to take the lessons from extended working from home, such as more virtual engagements, remote site support, etc. But it is also important that we reposition ourselves to not solely focus on the conventional oil and gas sector. While they do of course remain important, our network of experts can add so much more value to many of the other Future Energies. Watch this space for more announcements in this area. #FutureEnergy If you’ve read this far, then please do follow GPA Europe on LinkedIn and let us know what you think; any feedback is helpful to ensure GPA Europe stays relevant for many years to come (connect with us at [email protected])... Gary"

The digital journey continues 25 March 2021!

Be part of our digital journey continuing on 25 March 2021 with the next Technical Session. We are delivering high quality presentations directly to you, our members, for free in the comfort of your home or office.

Our next session

Technical Session on "Maintenance / Inspection"

Our previous session

Thank you from all of us at GPA Europe to Hiroaki Hasegawa and Patrick Schiffmann for presenting at our last Virtual Technical Session on 19 February. Hiroaki's presentation focused on the jointly developed DDR-type zeolite membrane system for CO2 recovery from associated gas and natural gas. Whilst Patrick's presentation provided details of a membrane which has been developed in close cooperation between Evonik and Linde and shows an excellent separation performance, HHC resistance and plasticization stability.

Did you miss the sessions? All our sessions from the Virtual Event Series are available for GPA Europe members to watch for free on our website here.

Paper of the Month

This month we are looking back to a paper on Maintenance & Inspection from Paul Stockwell, Process Vision. Presented at our 2019 Autumn Conference:

"A robotic solution for internal inspections & maintenance"

"The use of robotics in the oil and gas industry is becoming a hot topic. This paper reports on the progress and challenges of a project, to develop a robot snake. It comprises of a manoeuvrable optical system, which can monitor the internal operation of processing systems while the plant is operating. The small diameter snake provides a live video feed to provide real time operations troubleshooting and equipment inspection. It is designed for high pressure combustible gas systems and is anticipated that the robot will be able to safely access systems via existing tapping points and become a versatile tool to perform a number of tasks that currently require a plant shutdown. It will have the ability to investigate the internal condition of piping and pressure vessels. Additional tools will enable operators to troubleshoot operations problems such as foaming or fouling. The aim of the project is to: increase availability by reducing the need for inspection shutdowns; improve safety by reducing the need for confined space working; reduce shutdown durations as on-line diagnostics will help shutdown planning and logistics."
