The GPA Midstream Association has been engaged in shaping the midstream sector of the U.S. energy industry since 1921: setting and adopting standards for natural gas liquids; developing simple and reproducible test methods to define the industry’s raw materials and products; managing a cooperative research program that is used worldwide; providing a voice for our industry on Capitol Hill; being the go-to resource for a multitude of technical reports and publications; and so much more. Their annual GPA Midstream Convention has become the meeting place for midstream professionals from around the globe.

In November 1992, representatives from nine major oil companies in the Gulf Co-operation Council met in Bahrain to promote the formation of the Gulf Chapter of the Gas Processors Association. This meeting, which was hosted by the Bahrain National Gas Company (BANAGAS), was also attended by three senior representatives of the GPA and GPA - European Chapter.

The formation of a GCC Chapter of the GPA to be based in Bahrain was agreed in the meeting and a steering committee was formed to work on the by-laws of the Chapter and to arrange for an organisation meeting in April 1993.

In the April organisation meeting, the GPA - GCC Chapter was formally declared, the by-laws were approved and the members of the first Executive Committee consisting of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer and four other members were selected.

On the 13th October 1993 the Executive Committee met in Bahrain and agreed to extend the Chapter's membership to suppliers.

GPAC is a non-profit organisation formed to promote the interaction and exchange of ideas and technology to those involved with or affected by the hydrocarbon processing industry.

GPAC strives to be an organisation that will serve the needs of the processors, suppliers, relevant industry associations and other parties affected by the natural gas processing industry.

Their history in the Gas Processing Industry spans more than 55 years with our first association, the Canadian Gas Processing Association (CGPA) dating back to 1959.
