*Delegates from non-member companies are welcome to attend for a fee of £200 / €240.
Our Young Professional Day is designed for people who have recently joined or are thinking of joining the energy industries.
Delegates are anticipated to have a strong technical background or interest. The day is intended to help in understanding how your technical expertise can be applied within our industry.
Following the Training Day, you are warmly invited to our Networking Reception where drinks and canapés will be served. The Networking Reception takes place at the same time at the Annual Conference Welcome Reception, giving Young Professional Training Day delegates the opportunity to network with senior leaders and key players in the industry.

Northern Lights Project Visit
Northern Lights Project is a key carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative and represents an important development in large-scale CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure. This visit offers delegates a unique opportunity to gain insight into the project and its role within the wider CCS landscape.
Due to operational constraints, details of the on-site programme are limited and the exact content of the visit will be confirmed closer to the date. However, the visit is expected to include an introduction to the Northern Lights Project and an overview of its facilities and operations.

Young Professional Training Day
AI in Engineering Workflows: Practical Applications, Engineering Judgement, and the Future of Delivery
Enginira
This interactive session will explore how AI can be applied to real engineering workflows, with a focus on practical use cases, engineering judgement, and the requirements young professionals would expect from AI tools in industry.
The session will begin with a short introduction to the Enginira platform and how it supports deliverables activities such as process descriptions, datasheets, HAZOP preparation, LOPA/SIL workflows, and engineering calculations. Attendees will then work in cross-company groups to discuss the opportunities and risks of using AI in engineering, before completing a hands-on activity using a demo project environment. Groups will be asked to plan how they will approach a defined engineering task, use the tool to execute a sequence of project activities and close-out by presenting their findings on how leveraging AI could streamline their delivery.
The aim is to make the session collaborative, practical, and discussion-led, while giving attendees a view of how AI-enabled engineering tools could change the way engineering work is delivered.
The Hydrogen Game: Navigating the Future of Energy
Step into the role of an energy strategist and explore the challenges of building a low-carbon future in this interactive, team-based workshop focused on hydrogen and the energy transition.
The session begins with a short introduction to the global energy transition and the critical role hydrogen could play in creating emission-free economies. Participants will then be introduced to the game mechanics before taking part in two engaging activities designed to test strategic thinking, collaboration, and decision-making under uncertainty.
In the first activity, teams will explore the hydrogen energy system value chain through The Hydrogen Game, developed by researchers at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as part of the EU-supported Green Skills for Hydrogen project. Teams will work together to design and justify their preferred hydrogen system arrangements while discussing the trade-offs and interdependencies across the value chain.
The second game challenges participants to manage investment decisions within a simulated energy market. Working within allocated budgets, teams must develop strategies for investing in energy production facilities while responding to real-world pressures including supply chain disruptions, policy shifts, and market volatility. Across multiple rounds, teams will adapt their approaches, balance risk and opportunity, and present their outcomes to the wider group.
Designed to be collaborative, fast-paced, and discussion-led, the session provides a practical introduction to the complexities of the hydrogen economy and the decision-making challenges facing the future energy sector.
